Do you live or want to live "offgrid"? With our water filtration systems you can independently filter any type of water e.g. polluted tap water, highly chlorinated water, rainwater or stream water to very pure water.
WATERQUALITY
Scientific research shows that the contamination level of water worldwide is as high as 72%! Much water contains many microplastic particles in addition to many other contaminants such as pesticides, fungicides, drug residues, hormones, bacteria and viruses, among others. In many foreign countries, water has a strong chlorine taste and/or is advised not to drink it.
WATER FILTRATION
For offgrid homes, there are 2 ways to filter water: reverse osmosis and ultra filtration. Other methods e.g. micro filtration and nano filtration are especially suitable for industrial applications e.g. beer breweries, pharmaceutical industry etc.
1. reverse osmosis
2. ultra filtration
1. REVERSE OSMOSIS
The purest form of water filtration is "reverse osmosis" known in English as reverse osmosis or RO for short. This technique dates back to 1871 and is thus a very proven method of water filtration. It was initially developed to turn salt water into fresh water. Thus, large ships such as container ships, among others, but also naval vessels all have a reverse osmosis system.
This reverse osmosis filtration technology for offgrid can filter ±99% of all pollutants and harmful substances from the water. The percentage of 99% depends on the water quality (or its pollution). The RO system can include rainwater and stream/spring water developed in 1871 and can filter ±99% of all contaminants. Did you know that all large container and naval vessels are equipped with such filtration? However, reverse osmosis is not suitable for a caravan because the system requires high water pressure. Also, an RO system takes up quite a lot of space. It is, however, very suitable for domestic use, where the water pressure has sufficient bar and you have enough space in your kitchen cabinet.
2. ULTRA FILTRATION
The best alternative to reverse osmosis is ultra filtration. Ultra filtration, like reverse osmosis, is a membrane technique. The main difference is in the pore size of this membrane. In UF, this is 0.01 microns, while in RO it is 0.0001 microns. As a result, it needs much less water pressure and the system is many times more compact, easier to install and maintain. For example, the system has only 1 (all-in-one) filter that is easy to replace.
With ultra filtration, ± 80-90% of the water is filtered. VIa this UF technique, this system filters out, among other things: bacteria, viruses, microplastics, fluoride, GenX, PFAS, chlorine, persticides (including glyphosate), heavy metals (including lead, aluminum, nickel and copper), drug and drug residues (including antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, beta blockers) and medicines (cancer, contraceptives, antidepressants and hormones).
INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE
Purassima's UF systems (Hermes/Atlantis) are the most compact systems based on membrane filtration. You can install these systems yourself, or of course you can have it done by a professional such as a plumber. The system is easy to install and requires very little water pressure. If you opt for a reverse osmosis system, it is highly recommended to have it done by a professional (e.g. plumber).
SAVINGS
With Purassima water filtration systems, you actually no longer have to lug around many gallons of mineral water. This is because the water is much purer than mineral water, and in addition to the dragging, this also results in financial savings. Do the math:
On average, 1 liter of tap water costs € 0.05, Spa blue mineral water costs € 0.60 per liter.
Assume 2 liters per day per person:
Purassima Hermes: € 0.05 x 2 liters x 365 (days) = € 36.50 per person p/y.
Mineral water: € 0.60 x 2 liters x 365 (days) = € 438 per person
Saving: € 438,- per person p/y x 2 = € 876,-
For orientation: Replacing the filter(s) will cost you only ±€ 99,- and € 200,- (depending per system) per year.
